If you wish to study in Singapore, you have to apply directly to the university or institution you are interested in. The general admission requirement is that you have completed a minimum of 12 years of general education before applying to universities in Singapore. Some foreign applicants might be required to submit additional IELTS test results. It’s therefore important to take note of the application deadlines.

Work in Singapore

Language skills are key to a successful career. Many employers require evidence of your English language proficiency, so being able to prove your skills is an important part of the job-hunting and promotion processes.

A great way to do this is by taking IELTS, a highly-popular English language proficiency test which is recognised by many multinational organisations, including investment banks, law firms, accounting companies and insurance companies.

In Singapore, IELTS will be required by registration bodies representing the healthcare professional, such as nursing, medicine and pharmacy. According to Singapore Medical Council, international medical graduates are required to show evidence of proficiency in the English Language if their basic medical degree is obtained from a medical school where the medium of instruction is not English. Applicants need to achieve at least 7 for all IELTS components (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking) in academic module.

IELTS is also required in Early Childhood Care and Education sector. One of the entry requirements for pre-school teachers teaching is to achieve a score of 5.5 in IELTS, or equivalent.
