Covid-19 and Movement Control Order Advisory

Date: 18 March 2020

On 11 March, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Covid-19 a pandemic.

At the British Council, the health and safety of all our staff, customers, and the communities in which we operate is our top priority. We support and cooperate with all local government agencies to put all necessary measures in place to ensure the continued well-being of all with whom we engage in the course of our activities.

Following a Movement Control Order issued by the Malaysian Government on 16 March 2020, all events and gatherings will be cancelled from 18 March to 14 April 2020, and all offices (except essential services) are to be closed in the same period due to Covid-19.

Adhering to the order, the British Council in Malaysia has cancelled all tests and exams until 14 April 2020 inclusive. We will provide updates in advance should there be any further cancellations after 14 April 2020.

All affeted IELTS test takers will be notified by email with further instructions. If you would like to apply for a refund, kindly complete this refund form with a copy of your payment receipt or confirmation email, and email to info@britishcouncil.org.my

For other affected test/exam candidates, kindly contact your exam board for further clarity on the refund/transfer process.

We are monitoring the situation very closely and will continue to take relevant measures in line with the advice of local government agencies in the days ahead. If more information or assistance is required, please email us at info@britishcouncil.org.my. Our customer service representatives would be happy to help you. For the latest information and resources on Covid-19, please go to the WHO website here.

We are doing our best to keep all our stakeholders informed in a timely manner of the rapidly evolving situation. We are also encouraging everyone to follow basic hygiene practices such as frequent handwashing with soap and water, using hand sanitisers, wearing a mask if preferred and seeking medical attention if unwell.

Thank you for your kind attention in this matter.

Kind regards
The British Council in Malaysia
