Covid-19 Updates and Health Advisory

Date: February 2020

On 30 January 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus situation a global health emergency.

At the British Council, the health and safety of all our staff, customers, and the communities in which we operate is our top priority. We support and cooperate with local government agencies to ensure the continued well-being of all who engage in our activities.

In an evolving situation, we are working to keep our stakeholders up-to-date with information about activities and events. We are encouraging everyone to follow basic hygiene practices at our premises, such as frequent handwashing and use of hand sanitisers. All visitors are welcome to wear a mask. We ask anyone who is unwell to seek medical advice on whether they should still attend our activities and events.

Our adult classes and language exams remain open. We will contact students and candidates if there are any changes to our schedule. We are monitoring the situation and will continue to closely follow the advice of local government agencies in the days ahead. If you need any further information or assistance, please call our local office: General phone enquiries (Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri 9.30-17.00) +81 (0)3 3235 8031, English School (Tue-Fri 9.30-20.30, Sat & Sun 9.30-17.00) +81 (0)3 3235 8011 or email: courses@britishcouncil.or.jp .
