Application timeline

The process of selecting IELTS Prize winners takes approximately three months from the application deadline. See below for the overview of the application and selection process, and the important dates related to it.

  • Applications open at 9am (local time). Submit your application via the online portal.
  • Applications close at 6pm (local time). Late submissions will not be considered. As we anticipate heavy traffic on the application portal during the last day of the application period, please do not wait until the last minute to submit your application.
  • We will shortlist eligible applicants based on their personal statement and invite them to interview. To prepare for your interview, draw some inspiration from the 018/19 winners.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by the panel for the Local Prize.
  • Top applicants in each country will be shortlisted to attend an interview for the Regional Prize.
  • Winners for the regional and local prizes will be notified via email and are required to accept the offer within one week.
  • Winners must provide a Letter of Acceptance from their host institution by 2 July 2020.
  • Winners will be invited for an award ceremony, held locally.
  • Winners’ study journeys kick off and, as British Council IELTS Ambassadors, winners will be inspiring other individuals in the East Asia region to pursue their dreams!
