Apply for the British Council IELTS Prize (East Asia) 2022

The British Council IELTS Prize (East Asia)* enables individuals to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in their chosen course of study at any university that accepts IELTS as part of its admission requirements. While British Council considers applicants from all walks of life, the IELTS Prize aims to support bright and determined individuals with the passion to develop their career and, at the same time, demonstrate the desire and potential to contribute to society.

Application process

We are open to applications until 6pm HK time on 15 July 2022.

To get started:

  1. Register for an IELTS test at a British Council authorised centre on, or after, 1 April 2021 and obtain a valid score.
  2. Prepare these items before you apply:
    • a scanned copy of your passport / identification document that proves your permanent residency in one of the eligible countries/territories*
    • a soft copy of a recent passport-sized photograph
    • your IELTS Test Report Form
    • a Disability Certificate (if applicable).
  3. You will receive a unique URL for you to access to your saved application form from where you left off. Note that your application cannot be further amended once you have submitted it.
  4. Complete your application and upload the required documents by 6.00 p.m. Hong Kong time on 15 July 2022.
  5. Shortlisted applicants for the Local Prize will be required to attend a panel interview in mid to late July 2022 for the Local Prize.
  6. Winners must be able to provide a Letter of Acceptance from their host institution by 29 July 2022. Failure to provide a Letter of Acceptance by the deadline will result in your immediate removal from the list of winners. The final winners will be notified in August 2022.
